The ICC Champions Trophy is considered the second most important tournament in Cricket after the Cricket World Cup. It differs from the Cricket world Cup in that it is held once every 2 years while the World Cup occurs once every 4 years.
This tournament began as the ICC Knockout Tournament in 1998. Its name was changed to the ICC Champions Trophy in 2002. The tournament is an important financial event for the ICC, which uses the money earned for the ICC Development Program.
